StoryHush is built for families, and children's privacy is the reason most of our design decisions look the way they do. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and who else is involved.

1. Who we are

StoryHush is a mobile application that generates personalized bedtime stories for children using artificial intelligence. The app is designed to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian, not by a child independently.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

Parent's first name
Child's first name (or nickname), age range, and chosen story themes
Optional: your child's personality and desired bedtime feeling
Optional: a photo of your child

Information collected automatically

App usage events — for example, when the app is opened, when onboarding is finished, when a paywall is shown, when a subscription or trial begins, and when a story is generated
Basic device information — device model, operating system version, app version, country, and preferred language
A randomly generated identifier created when you install the app

That identifier is not your Apple ID, not your name, and not an advertising identifier. It is a random value created on your device, used so that our analytics and our payment processor are describing the same installation. It is deleted when you delete the app.

Subscription information

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID password.

3. Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect your child's last name, home address, phone number, email address, or precise location.
We do not collect your child's photo onto our servers. Photos stay on your device.
We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
We do not show advertisements in StoryHush.
We do not sell your information, or your child's information, to anyone — ever.

4. How we use information

To write stories that feature your child as the hero, matched to their age and the themes you selected
To read stories aloud in a natural voice
To keep your story library on your device
To understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, how many people finish onboarding, or which features are used — so we can improve it
To measure whether our own advertising is working, using aggregate campaign data. This tells us "this campaign brought in subscribers." It does not involve profiling your child.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

AdPilot never receives your child's name, their photo, or the text of any story. It receives the fact that a story was generated and which theme it used — not its contents.

Anthropic and ElevenLabs do not use your child's information to train their models.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

StoryHush is intended to be purchased and configured by a parent or guardian. Account setup, subscription purchase, and all settings are behind the App Store purchase flow, which requires an adult Apple ID.

We collect the minimum needed to personalize a story: a first name or nickname, an age range, and story preferences. We do not require, request, or store information that would identify a child in the real world.

If you believe a child has provided us information beyond what is described here, contact support@getstoryhush.com and we will delete it.

7. Security and storage

Child profiles, photos, and generated stories are stored on your device.
All data sent over the internet is encrypted using HTTPS.
Photos are never uploaded to our servers or to any third party.

8. Data retention

Information stored on your device remains until you delete it or delete the app. Usage events and subscription records held by our providers are retained only as long as needed to operate and improve the service.

9. Your rights and choices

You can, at any time:

Edit or delete a child's profile, including their photo, in Settings
Delete saved stories from your Library
Delete the app, which removes all locally stored information and the random install identifier
Cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings
Email support@getstoryhush.com to request deletion of information held by us

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as requesting a copy of your information, or asking us to correct or erase it. Contact us and we will honor those requests.

10. International users

StoryHush is operated from Nigeria and uses providers located in the United States and Europe. By using the app, you understand your information may be processed in those countries.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app.
